What is Unified Light?
The name Unified Light, I received, through some resistance, in 2010. A name for the title of a more than decade long compilation of realizations regarding enlightenment. With an intention to keep the information safe, I accepted a name for copyright purposes. In the age of AI, it's maybe important to remind people that here in the USA and elsewhere, especially if you don't claim ownership of something you've created, someone very well may take it unabashedly. I believe sacred information, just like the land and Earth that are sacred, should be protected. At times we must hold what is valuable in an open hand, to claim it away from those who believe in conquest.
The awareness that came to me in meditation, in my teens and 20s, I found without first having vast outside study or schooling in what I was discovering. Like principles of physics that act according to an equation even on opposites sides of the world, I discovered what many had before. The same inherent system of awakening that exists in everyone. Unified Light is a collection of concepts to contemplate enlightenment that I formulated while pondering oneness and the transparency of the Universe. I just wrote and drew what I saw and discovered within, that I later confirmed in the outside world. It was after I had completed Unified Light that I discovered a system merging the Taoist Five-Elements and the Yogic chakra system already existed. Yin Yoga didn't contradict what I had found within, it was the confirmation of it.
What do you think about misappropriation?
The access to international history through modern technology is one of the greatest gifts of our time, and our cultural diversity is part of what makes the human experience so beautiful. Remaining in our deep appreciation can help avoid appropriation. Understanding what we have access to through permission can combine with what we have experienced in our own lives. We must contemplate our privileges and be honest about systems of human oppression. Dismantling colonization and colonialization must be an integral part of any spiritual practice for it to be honest. There are many practices that can bring enlightenment into areas of our lives where we still experience illusion.
You may find a balance between teachers from ancient lineages and your own inner knowing. My personal journey of Unified Light started with seeing glowing centers of energy, for example, with observations of bodies in the present that I saw without knowing any explanation of chakras through Yoga at the time. Many of our experiences as old souls are both inherent and historically ancient, and combining the two seems only reasonable. If you are, however, only borrowing knowledge from the outside, or using knowledge in exploitative ways, be aware; if those who have preserved sacred history are objecting to what you're doing, if you're being denied permission by the vast collective of people that have a history of that knowledge, these could be clear indicators of misappropriation. While we may make mistakes along the way, doing the thought labor to educate ourselves is important to avoid perpetuation of harm.
Why do chakras appear in different colors in Unified Light, or why are there so many schools of thought on chakras, or energy centers?
Some people are going on observations from within while honoring sacred lineages. Other people are washing out lineages, trying to re-brand for profit. When it's valid, as it can be in the first example, each observing individual has a unique body and perspective. Because of personal experiences, or because of change in emotion or consciousness, an individual may have any of various energetic alignments. Unified Light energetic alignment is one I observe in myself and other awake beings in this period on the planet: our predecessors spoke of a time where we would see, "the new human". True ancient teachings shine through modern and ever-changing times. Through the power of intention or the natural progression of change, an individual could draw any color of light to any area of their energy body. There are many practices we can activate for different alignments, to support different intentions. Various alignments may be supportive for each individual, and there is no "one best alignment" taught via Unified Light. Frequencies in the body are not solid and set in stone. Observing color differences can teach us about ourselves, show us our vibration in a moment or period in our personal history, or clue us in to which colors may be supportive for keeping our energy bodies in balance.
Why, in Unified Light, is the color red or the red (Muladhara) chakra associated primarily with the Water element and not the Fire or Earth element?
There is Yang within Yin, and Yin within Yang. The color placement of the dots in the Yin-Yang symbol expresses this concept. Not only does something identified as "yang" have both yin and yang aspects to it, but Yang also is, at its extreme, turning into Yin. The same is true of Yin, inversely: at its extreme it turns into Yang. In Unified Light, the Red frequency is associated with Water in its lower, slower vibration and more yin quality, relative to Violet which has a higher and thus more yang quality and is associated with Fire; however, this is not a linear paradigm.
How would you describe a "moment of enlightenment"?
Enlightenment manifests in many forms. Some "moments of enlightenment" may last throughout the rest of our lives or eternally, such as infinite peace or infinite love (love for all beings). These and other moments of enlightenment can also be fleeting, or more challenging to energetically maintain, such as eternal bliss; or, the kind of energetic state which allows some humans to defy what many would regard as physical limitations. It's important to remember that, like a candle, these lights can be blown out by turbulent metaphorical winds. They can also be re-lit.
You talk about not using the word "dark" as a negative, what do you think about its use in the Star Wars movies?
I'm generally fine with its use here: a paradigm is described with wisdom in fictional stories regarding a force of power that can be abused; however, fan objections to black actors in lead character roles may be revealing, regarding the points I make in the Dark Side page of this website.
What if I don't believe in all this woo-woo stuff?
You don't have to. Pleasant thought has a chance to prevail simply by activating your imagination. The mind is powerful and visualization, along with other meditation forms, have a measurable effect on the physical body. Science has been amazing for confirming these ancient discoveries. The traditional chakras correspond with different glands in the anatomy of the body. Only after the Ohm-meter was invented did we have concrete evidence that points of low electrical resistance, previously called Acupuncture points, existed- and a scientific way to locate them; however, these belief systems have been around for thousands of years. Even if chakras existed only in our imaginations, it doesn't really matter; we share many concepts in the collective human imagination, such as creating and watching cartoons, which helps many feel happy.
